JEMBRANA, NETIZENBALI.COM — The Jembrana Semarak Festival 2026 concluded Sunday after 10 days of cultural performances, creative-economy activities and entertainment held amid government budget constraints.

The festival continued despite regional budget limitations, with local artists, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), community groups, private companies, state-owned and regionally owned enterprises, and other stakeholders contributing to its implementation.

The festival's final event was the Nusantara Cultural Parade, themed “Taman Sari Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” held along Jalan Ngurah Rai in Negara on Sunday (Aug. 23, 2026).

Thousands of local artists participated in the parade, presenting a range of traditional and contemporary performances that reflected Jembrana's cultural diversity.

The festival's activities had earlier been held at three main venues: the Jembrana regency government parking area, Jagatnatha Temple and the Dr. Ir. Soekarno Arts Building.

The government parking area hosted MSME stalls, local handicraft displays, creative-economy exhibitions and a job fair.

Jagatnatha Temple hosted traditional performances, including Gong Kebyar, Baleganjur and Drama Gong, while the Dr. Ir. Soekarno Arts Building featured contemporary performances, music, Jegog, Joged Bumbung and Wayang Kulit.

Jembrana Regent I Made Kembang Hartawan said the festival could be held because of contributions from various groups, particularly as the regional government faced financial constraints.

“Amid the difficult situation we are facing, the key is mutual cooperation. The committee, artists, private sector, state-owned and regionally owned enterprises, as well as communities, have all provided support,” Kembang said.

He said cultural events remained important because they provided space for artists and MSME operators to work, perform and develop their businesses.

However, Kembang said future events would have to be adjusted to the region's financial capacity.

The Jembrana Semarak Festival 2026 was held as part of celebrations marking the 131st anniversary of Negara City, the 68th anniversary of Bali Province and Indonesia's 81st Independence Day.

The festival brought together cultural performances, creative-economy activities and community participation while demonstrating how local events can continue through collaboration despite fiscal constraints.
