DENPASAR, NETIZENBALI.COM — The Bali Provincial Government has dismissed as a hoax a video circulating on Facebook that falsely portrays Bali Provincial Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK) chairwoman Ny. Putri Suastini Koster promoting a prize lottery allegedly organized by Bank Pembangunan Daerah (BPD) Bali to mark Indonesia's 81st Independence Day.

The video claims that the public can participate in a lottery program offering prizes worth Rp2 billion and invites users to register through a link attached to the post.

Bali Provincial Secretariat's Head of Public Relations and Protocol Bureau, Ida Bagus Surja Manuaba, said the information contained in the video is entirely fabricated and does not originate from either the Bali provincial administration or BPD Bali.

"Based on our analysis, the video was manipulated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology by irresponsible parties. The information presented in the video is completely false," Surja Manuaba said in Denpasar on Sunday.

He stressed that neither the Bali Provincial Government nor BPD Bali has ever announced or organized a lottery program related to the celebration of Indonesia's Independence Day, contrary to the claims made in the viral video.

The provincial administration has urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid sharing unverified information, particularly content circulating on social media that offers prizes or requests users to access external links.

Authorities also warned residents not to click on the registration link included in the post, as it could potentially be used to facilitate fraud or steal personal data.

Surja Manuaba called on the public to verify any information through official channels operated by the Bali Provincial Government and BPD Bali before accepting or disseminating it.

He added that digital literacy and public awareness are essential to preventing the spread of misinformation and protecting communities from online scams that increasingly exploit artificial intelligence technology.

The Bali Provincial Government further encouraged residents to report any similar content impersonating government officials or institutions to promote lotteries, investment schemes, or other suspicious offers. (*)
