Ritual of Tawur Tabuh Gentuh Held at Besakih Temple Complex

KARANGASEM, NETIZENBALI.COM - The peak ritual of Tawur Tabuh Gentuh was solemnly held at the Bencingah courtyard of Pura Agung Besakih on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, coinciding with Buda Wage Kelawu in the Saka Year 1947. The ceremony forms part of a series of sacred rituals known as Tawur Tabuh Gentuh and Karya Ida Bhatara Turun Kabeh, one of Bali’s most significant religious observances.

The procession featured the Yama Raja ritual, followed by the main offerings of Tawur Tabuh Gentuh and collective prayers led by prominent Hindu priests. Among those officiating were Ida Pedanda Gede Suwabawa Karang Adnyana, Ida Pedanda Gede Manu Singaraga, Ida Rsi Bujangga Waisnawa Haridantam, and Ida Dalem Semara Putra.

The main prayer session at Penataran Agung Temple, within the Besakih complex, was presided over by Ida Sri Bhagawan Putra Natha Nawa Wangasa Pemayun, underscoring the spiritual significance of the event.

The ceremony drew the presence of the Bali governor, the provincial secretary, as well as the regent and vice regent of Karangasem, along with other invited guests, reflecting strong institutional and community support.

The entire procession was carried out by the prawartaka (organizing committee), temple priests and devoted pengayah (volunteers), whose coordinated efforts ensured the ritual proceeded smoothly and with reverence. (NB/ wan)
